The prisoners are mankind. What do the shadows of the chained prisoners symbolize?
One prisoner (the thinker) frees himself. What does his pain represent?
What is Plato saying about education/knowledge in this allegory? How is it important for us as critical thinkers?
Story of a Good Brahmin Questions:
Answer the following questions: Submit online, be sure to number items.
The Brahmin is like the philosopher in the Myth of the Cave. Who is the old woman and what does her happiness mean?
Why is it that we do not choose to be stupid if happiness can be gained?
What conclusion does the narrator arrive at towards the end about the value of reason? Do you see any parallels with the Myth of the Cave?
