Assignment 3: Topic Proposal Essay
Instructions: For this assignment you will write an essay that describes and explains what you will be arguing in the final essay of the course, Assignment 7.
The first step, therefore, is to read the Assignment 7 instructions and topics.
After reading over Assignment 7 and selecting a topic, write an essay that includes the following:
*An introduction for your essay that includes some context on your topic and your planned thesis statement/argument about your topic. A topic is general; a thesis statement is a specific argument about a topic.
*At least three periodical sources where you will find information to support your thesis statement. Introduce/Identify and summarize each source.
*An explanation of at least one counterargument that will be a part of your essay. This should be an explanation of how one might argue against your thesis, and your rebuttal of that counter-argument.
*A Works Cited page at the end of your essay (on a separate page).
– All in-text quotes and Works Cited must follow proper MLA format. For help with MLA style guidelines, read Chapter 22 in Everything’s an Argument.
– Additional information will be posted on the Discussion Board.
– This essay must be at least 500 words, double-spaced, 12-point size type, Times New Roman font
– The essay must include an introductory paragraph, at least three supporting paragraphs and a concluding paragraph
Remember, these are the broad topics from which you must choose (these are the topics for Assignment 7):
Chapter 23: How Does Popular Culture Stereotype You?
Chapter 24: How Does the Internet Change Our Behavior?
Chapter 25: How Does Language Influence Our World?
Chapter 26: How Free Should Campus Speech Be?
Chapter 27: How Do Symbols Function in Times of Division?
Note: I have to include in the sources the book Lunsford, A. A., Ruszkiewicz, J. J., & Walters, K. (2013). Everything’s an Argument with Readings. Bedford Books.
Note: No separate cover page—just a heading on the upper left.)
Note; I also attack the format for the essay and the instructions or this assignment
