Nursing entails lots of psychomotor skills. These skills involve movement and require professionals to avoid injuring patients. Two important psychomotor skills are taking vitals and starting intravenous injections. Both of the skills require that the nurse train hard enough. Hence, students must use simulations whenever possible to improve their skills while protecting patients. During the training process, the instructor must protect the interests of all parties. They must recognize their role as the advocates of patients and their protectors (Billings & Halstead, 2019). Hence, they must always seek to protect them from harm. They must also see the need to improve learners’ skills. Collaboration between the learning resource center person and students may help students learn safely. The learning resource center has tools and materials for students to practice. For example, they can use the simulations provided by the center to practice inserting IV lines. Such simulations will allow students to improve their skills while protecting patients. It ensures that they are well prepared to conduct their duties by the time they start working in actual situations. They may also help students learn how to check vitals using dummies and other resources. While checking vitals is not usually very risky, simulations enable students to develop their confidence (Jeffries et al., 2019). It may also enable them to learn from the resource center employee so that they prepare for more complex situations. They can also borrow materials like charts and diagrams that detail the processes that they need to perform in taking vitals to improve what they know.
