Arizona Sports and Society Response – Description

Part 1: Respond to these 3 responses below in 50-100 words. Provide meaningful feedback about their responses. Basically just like I really enjoyed reading your post and give feedback off stuff they mentioned in their posts.
1. From watching that video it seems as though so many people from all around the world want to volunteer, and for their own great reasons. Some of the people who spoke said they were doing it out of the love of the country, others talked about how they want to give back to the community, and a women from Japan said she wanted to communicate with people from all around the world. It’s crucial for event organizers to understand all volunteers’ motivations because they want to find different people from diverse backgrounds to help with these Olympic Games. All of the people volunteering have different backgrounds that they came from with different stories to tell on top of it. The point of the Olympic Games is to bring the entire world together to compete and to cheer as one, and it makes it even better when it isn’t just the athletes who are from all around. When the people who are helping run the games are from all different places in the world, it shows that we can all work together and be unified.
2. The Olympics bring people from all over. Volunteers come because you know they have a passion for it for many different reasons. Obviously if you’re volunteering you’re not making any money so you must really love what your doing. One, would be your passion for sports, you must really love competition and the craft of sports. Community engagement, volunteers have a strong desire to help out and have a sense of community and a want to make a positive impact. They are often people who like to socialize and meet people all over. Another case is that the Olmypics will only be in your town or city once and you should take advantage of the once in a lifetime situation. I know for myself it would be cool to tell my kids one day that I took part and contributed to the olympics. Working together is very rewarding and will leave a positive impact. Personal fullfilment the feel that you worked hard and accomplshed something is very self rewarding. Along with social contribution, the idea that I contributed to society and left an impact is a good feeling especially when you see the fianl product on TV.  Knowing volunteers motivation, why might they be choosing to volunteer, will help understand who they want to hire and the kind of impact they would bring. It also helps when you assign people to certain roles, maybe the person who was more social will be better in a posistion that interacts with the public.
3. There are many reasons why people might want to volunteer for the Olympics. Some examples I found are because they are not originally from the host country and feel the need to give back, or they believe that the Olympics are the pinnacle of sports and want to be apart of something special. The motivation behind wanting to volunteer is to help out the visitors for that country. In the video it goes over the Tokyo Olympics. A man originally from Pennsylvania wanted to help out the Americans who were going to be coming to Tokyo and speaking English. It is crucial for event organizers to understand the volunteers’ motivations because they might be able to place them in more engaging parts of the Olympics. I know if I were a volunteer, I would want to be placed at a venue where the sports I liked were going to be held. That way I would be more engaged and excited about being a volunteer.
Part 2: Respond to these 3 responses below in 50-100 words. Provide meaningful feedback about their responses. Basically just like I really enjoyed reading your post and give feedback off stuff they mentioned in their posts.
1. By being in line with the fundamental principles and goals of the Games, themes created for the Olympics can play a significant role in realizing the Olympic legacy. They want to promote unity and leave a long-lasting impression by motivating and involving volunteers and the larger community. Past themes have, for instance, emphasized social responsibility, youth participation, cultural diversity, sustainability, and inclusivity. By promoting active involvement and supporting the principles of the Olympic movement, these themes aid in communicating the Olympic Games’ larger vision and purpose. As an event organizer for the 2028 LA Olympic Games, developing a theme that encapsulates the uniqueness of the host city and translates it into the Olympic legacy is crucial. Los Angeles is known for its cultural diversity, innovation, entertainment industry, and commitment to sustainability. Based on these characteristics, a potential theme could revolve around “Inspiring Unity through Diversity, Innovation, and Sustainability. This theme would emphasize the power of diversity, both within the city and across the world, as a source of strength and unity. It would celebrate the innovative spirit of Los Angeles, showcasing advancements in technology, sports, and entertainment. Furthermore, it would highlight the city’s commitment to sustainability, promoting environmentally friendly practices and leaving a positive legacy for future generations.
2. In each Olympic Games, specific themes are presented to encourage the widespread participation of volunteers, and these themes are closely related to achieving the Olympic legacy. These themes emphasize the values and goals of the Olympics and are chosen to provide volunteers with lifelong skills and unique experiences through their involvement in the Games. Additionally, these themes promote the Olympic spirit and cultivate a new volunteer culture, thereby creating an Olympic legacy. Also, The Olympics emphasize core values such as peace, rights, sports, and sustainability. Therefore, in each Olympic Games, themes related to these values are selected to encourage the participation of volunteers. Through these themes, volunteers can experience and learn about peace, friendship, and cultural diversity, among other aspects, which contribute to forming an Olympic legacy that they can utilize meaningfully throughout their lives.
For the 2028 LA Olympics, considering the uniqueness and characteristics of the host city, LA, a theme of “Cultural Diversity” is chosen to reflect various cultural and racial elements. Events incorporating diverse cultural aspects will be organized, combining the core values of the Olympics, such as peace, rights, sports, and sustainability, to encourage volunteer activities. For example, developing a theme that promotes peace and friendship in a multicultural environment, where volunteers from diverse backgrounds can share and understand each other’s cultures, would be a possibility.
3. The Olympics is built around tradition and culture. The themes every 4 years exemplify why the Olympics are an amazing event and bring the world together. I remeber watching the opening ceremony when I was younger and amazed by the effort put into it by the host country and how insync everyone involved in it was. Inclusivity is one of the over arching themes each olympics. The Olympics spark the theme of unity between all the people because of how diverse it is. That’s what really makes the Olympics so special is that you can see the best athletes all over the world in one place. The different languages and cultures are also mixed in to make the product what we see on TV. If I was leading the LA campaign in 2028 I would build it around the glamor and stardom that revolves around Hollywood and LA. Just as Hollywood is very diverse it would show in the games. The technology and innovation would be highly advacned to show everyone that no matter what language you speak we are all in this together. Just how the movies made in hollywood cater to all audiences and have actors and crew from all ways of life. LA will pride itself with inclusivity and the connection that we are all living a once in a lifetime oppurtunity together.
