In this week’s lecture, we talked about sexual deviance including how to conceptualize it and a number of different forms of it. In this discussion post, please answer the following: 1. Pick a type of sexual deviance described in the lecture and 1) describe the behavior and 2) use either self-control theory or labeling theory to describe why individuals might engage in it. 2. Come up with an example of media (e.g., movie, TV show, video game) and explain how it stigmatizes either a sexuality or a sexual behavior. Example: In the movie “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” the main character is constantly being made fun of, demonstrating how being a virgin as an adult male is seen as deviant.
